Paddling Routes

Paddling Routes

While looking at our maps you will find a plethora of paddling information. This includes clearly marked paddling routes for canoeing and kayaking complete with portages, put-ins/take-outs, campsites and water features such as rapids, waterfalls and dams. Industry-leading road and trail coverage shows you the best possible access to your put-in or take-out. Mapbooks, GPS Maps, the BRMB Maps app & web map include written descriptions of paddling routes with distance, difficulty, portages, highlights, put-ins/take-outs and more. For digital products, paddling routes are georeferenced and searchable, while our Mapbooks contain an easy-to-use Adventure index to help you find the exact paddling route you are looking for.

  • INFORMATION

Most of the paddling routes shown on our maps are supplemented with detailed written descriptions compiled by our team of outdoor writers and researches. These descriptions fill you in on the best access points or river put-in and take-out locations, the length of a paddling route and more. We also include paddling tips for canoeing and kayaking in each particular region, and Mapbook users can easily reference the written descriptions to the maps found at the front of the book. Within the descriptions, we use a modified version of the international scale to grade rivers – the grade of a run tells you how difficult overall a stretch of river is, while class rates individual rapids, chutes and other features.
