Registering your Backroad GPS maps

Here's a few benefits you get from Registering

Updates are FREE for 60 days after registration of your microSD card in your account.

If you purchase an older version from a retailer you can update to the latest version of the maps for 60 days after registration.

Used or already updated cards will not be able to be registered.
Version 1 - 2019  are Legacy versions and have been discontinued.

Registration

We recommend that you insert your SD card directly into the SD card slot on your computer, if available.

If you don't have an SD card slot, you'll have to insert the microSD card into your GPS unit and then connect the GPS unit to your computer via a USB cable. see Troubleshooting

1. Go to the our website at Backroadmapbooks

Log into your account on our website, create a new account if you don't have one.

2. Click on the "MY BRMB GPS ACCOUNT" button to go to the registration page.

3. Under the REGISTER PRODUCT heading, click the first choose file button, a new window will appear.

In the directory list on the left hand side select the microSD card drive and double click the Garmin folder to show it's contents.

In the Garmin folder single click the file gmapsupp.unl to select it and then click the Open button.

The card will be Labeled with the Province and Year or Version. example: VIBCv (1 - 8) or VIBC2019 - 2023

4. Click on the second Choose File button and the window will open to the Garmin folder where you can select the gmapsupp.gma file and then click the open button.

5. Click the Submit button to register the maps.

You should see a green message box at the top of the page saying registration successful and your product will now be shown.

Error Messages

  • Invalid ESN - Contact support for help registering your maps
  • Invalid File Uploaded - Wrong file chosen during selection of .gma or .unl files
  • No File Chosen - One of the form fields is missing a file when it was submitted.
